  • Sourcing rhizomes for 2011

Looking for sources of quality hop rhizomes for 2011(large quantities 100-200 per variety).

Also looking for sources of rhizomes with unique varieties and/or with limited acreage

    Thanks in advance

We would be happy to set you up with some rhizomes from the wilds of Colorado-- but

You would probably be better served by folks much closer to you
Gorst Valley are great people and I am sure any rhizomes they can procure would not have culture shock coming from arid American west

    Good luck!

Special --then have you considered growing Canadian Red Vine? A great hop in production that merits some renewed attention. We have a grower out here who is propogating Red Vine all the time and does tastings to convince folks that it is a tasty tasty hop!

He is located in Lazear, Colorado without email. He has no google-- he reads books with bindings. But if you wanted a try I could call him and see if he would part with rhizomes for the spice of life. San Juan Hop Farm has a unknown variety we call Ruby Red which is probably related but unwilling right now to part with rhizomes. Still very tasty

AlexisScarlett- Why did you say this and why would you say this?,,,

"I am sure any rhizomes they can procure would not have culture shock coming from arid American west,,".

And then you offered rhizomes from the west?

Gorst Valley are only going to do minimum orders of 500 rhizomes next year, James Altwies told me via email , but Im sure they will still let you mix varieties in bundles of 50/100 .

Glen Fuller is taking orders for his organic rhizomes from Rising Sun Farms for the 2011 season .

Niko's Homebrew can get you small quantities of rhizomes 50-100 or more at a decent price also .

              rhizomes available

              Hi -

In the US west coast, try Freshops for a wide variety of rhizomes, all non-organic.

In Canada: Left Fields at Crannog Ales (that's me) - organic hops grown on our own farm, plus non-organic sourced from other growers. We ship in Canada only. Also try Roots Down Organic Farm: http://www.rootsdown.ca/hops/ordering

We are slowly propagating a wild hop found on our own place - it has a lovely spicy aroma, large loose cones with abundant but loose pale lupulin. Very aromatic, we've been using it for dry-hopping casks and loving it.

Rhizomes from Ralph Olson - RNV Enterprises

Previously, if you called Hopunion for rhizomes, they would send them out via Ralph Olson's side business called RNV Enterprises. While Ralph is no longer full time at Hopunion - he is continuing to offer rhizomes through RNV Enterprises, with his wife Vickie.

He said there is no minimum order.

The website is www.rnventerprises.com. On the website is an order form, variety listing sheet, and How To Grow packet.
