    NORTH AMERICAN BREWERIES:
    A leader in marketing and selling specialty and imported beer in the United States.
    North American Breweries imports and markets Labatt Blue and Labatt Blue Light, the No. 1 & No. 2 Canadian beers in the U.S., along with Genesee, Magic Hat, Pyramid, MacTarnahan’s and the Dundee family of craft beers.
    NAB is also known for Seagram’s Coolers and other specialty and imported brands.

    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Director of World Class Maintenance provides leadership and directs strategy for the maintenance effort in support with plant’s strategic and production plans. He/she improves asset utilization, uptime and production throughput by implementing proven reliability improvement processes. He/she also ensures responsive and proactive maintenance support to all plant customers by implementing sound work management processes. He/she is also responsible for department budgeting, professional and technical development of his/her assigned salaried and hourly associates. And, he/she is responsible to seek methods to reduce utilities consumption and protect the environment.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Ensure work is performed efficiently through organized planning, optimized material support and coordinated work execution.
    2. Ensure the production areas receive prompt, efficient and quality service from the maintenance function and ensures the maintenance function is given the opportunity to provide this service.
    3. Utilize data to analyze equipment failure modes, mean time between failure (MTBF), etc. and suggests/implements improvement processes to reduce or eliminate equipment/process failures (I.E.: PM inspection improvements, predictive maintenance techniques, maintenance employee training, etc.).
    4. Provide meaningful management reports to enhance control of maintenance operations.
    5. Provide quality maintenance service in support of operational needs.
    6. Maintain the work backlog within prescribed limits by providing for forested resource requirements.
    7. Create and adheres to a work order scheduling process.
    8. Continually reduce equipment downtime and increase availability through the establishment of a preventive/predictive maintenance program (including failure analysis) designed, directed, monitored and continually improved.
    9. Establishes sound storeroom operations that provides repair parts for critical process equipment as well as necessary consumables for the plant.
    10. Keep the operations managers properly informed on all abnormal or critical situations.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Support plant operations as needed.
    2. Participate in and support the Continuous Improvement process.
    3. Facilitate the implementation and continuing efforts of the Continuous Improvement Teams (i.e. Equipment Improvement Team, Preventive Maintenance Optimization team, Equipment Maintenance Plan team, etc.).
    4. Champion the Maintenance Excellence program initiatives and strategy.
    5. Promote the NAB brands in the consumer sector when visiting bars, restaurants and stores that sell beer.
    6. Other duties and projects as assigned.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARD
    • The Director of World Class Maintenance is measured in the performance of his/her duties and execution of assigned responsibilities by:
    • Accomplishment of Plant and Department annual goals and objectives:
    • Production
    • Budget
    • Quality
    • Safety
    • Timely completion of the weekly work order schedule.
    • Improvement in mean time between equipment failures.
    • The improved use of labor and improved plant condition as expressed by a reduction in emergencies, overtime hours worked and in unscheduled labor worked, and reduction of contractor support.

    • To ensure that production areas receive prompt, efficient and quality service from the maintenance function enabling them to operate at a high level of efficiency.
    • To ensure the maintenance function is given the opportunity to provide production with the service it requires.

    LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    Forklift Certification
    EPA Refrigeration Technician Certification.
    Valid Drivers License.

    LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITY
    HIGH- This position requires daily in-process decisions and judgment calls

    MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
    • Provides supervision and direction to assigned maintenance personnel. Directs the day-to-day maintenance function within his/her area of responsibility.
    • Assesses the skills and abilities of assigned personnel and develops training opportunities to close the skills gap.
    • Seeks and schedules training courses and/or seminars to close worker skills gaps.
    • Participates in, and supports, the Department safety training program. (I.E.: weekly safety meetings, shop safety inspections, enforcement of lock-out/tag-out program, enforcement of the confined space program, etc.).
    • Conducts accident investigation of all injuries requiring medical attention (or as requested by Plant management).
    • Relationships
    • Reports to the general manager.
    • Works closely with production supervision.
    • Works closely with maintenance supervisors, planners and crafts persons.
    • Works with storeroom personnel.
    • Maintains good working relationships with other organizational units in the plant.

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
    Should be familiar with the beer making process.
    5+ years experience
    Minimum 3-4 years mechanic experience.
    Minimum: Technical classes relating to job.
    A four-year degree, technical or engineering fields are highly desirable.
    Understanding of the proper use of work orders, priorities; scheduling, etc.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
    • Frequent physical movement in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise and production environment with loud noise.
    • Work in a variety of outside weather conditions.
    • Ability to work in high noise levels.
    • Ability to handle hazardous materials.
    • Ability to work on/around potentially dangerous equipment/machinery with moving mechanical parts.
    • Ability to work in tight/cramped work spaces.
    • Ability to work in high precarious places, on ladders and via other methods both inside and outside in various weather conditions.
    • Heavy lifting required (100+ lbs.)
