  • What Size Filter For 60bbl Batches?

    Hello,

What would folks suggest to filter 60 BBL's of beer?
Assume medium floc ale strains, I also assume pressure leaf filter but not sure how big?

    Thanks,

7.5-10 sq meter vertical leaf. You want the ability to filter multiple 60 bbl batches with one precoat.
    Cheers!

It all depends on how long and how cold you condition. Although realistically you want a filter that can filter mud if your yeast doesn't floc for some reason or your protein level was a little higher than expected.

Does this mean I can look forward to finding BRB in my neck of the woods soon?

7-10 square meter. 10 square is perhaps a bit oversized but it'll make life easy. Ive run 600 bbls through a 10 square without breaking down and experienced no huge pressure gains in the bell. Typically in a day I would do 400. On a seven square I thought about 240 bbls in a run was as much as I wanted to run through it though I did 420 in a day one time on it. Alternatively you can plan for headaches and get a 3 square which is plenty big for a 60 bbl batch but will clog up easily.
