    We are currently looking for a Manager of Contract Manufacturing in Allentown, PA.


    This highly visible, manager position is responsible for managing Boston Beer’s long-term, third-party contract locations and overseeing external service requirements. This key role will be held accountable for ensuring timely startup of key packages and new product launches that require third party manufacturing as well as leading cost improvement initiatives.


    Ingredients To Be A Successful Manager of Contract Manufacturing:

    Four year degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration or similar degree.
    MBA preferred
    Ten or more years in brewing, consumer foods packaging, food, beverage, beer manufacturing or related field.
    Minimum 3 years spent managing third party manufacturing locations.
    Strong understanding of brewing process or consumer foods packaging required with preference towards craft beer and high speed bottling and canning.
    Demonstrated project management skills with ability to lead multi-functional teams through in-direct management of people.
    Understanding of quality systems (AIB, HAACP experience a plus)
    Preferred experience in startup or turnaround manufacturing environments.
    Strong business and finance acumen, experience reading legal contracts.
    Computer: well versed in Microsoft Project and all Microsoft Office tools.



    To Be Mixed With:


    Secure long term external capacity through negotiating business terms of 3rd party agreements, building relationships, and finding new sources.
    Current services include co-packing, third party brewing contracts, bottle washing, and other outside services.
    Search for, assess capabilities, and select future partners supporting Boston Beer’s future strategic projects.
    Assure Boston Beer’s high standard of quality is being met.
    Work closely with Quality Department to conduct periodic audits of third party facilities to assure standards are being met.
    Drive for continual improvement in quality systems at all locations.
    Identify and quantify risks at third party locations.
    Manage lowest total costs of services by balancing fees, freight, and cost of quality.
    Work with external partners to drive down costs through continuous improvement activities.
    Assure adherence to contracts.
    Lead new product rollouts requiring 3rd party contracting
    Work in conjunction with Operations, Engineering, Brewing, Brand Development and Procurement to successfully launch new products or programs.
    Build and manage aggressive timelines to ensure projects are on-time.
    Develop key performance indicators with contract partners and publish to Senior Management.
