  • Acids for keg cleaning

    Greetings all,

We are switching to an acid with detergent for our keg cleaning. The chems currently being considered are Five Star's Acid #6 and Birko's Ultra Niter with detergent additive. The dosing rates appear to be the same but the five star is more expensive. Can anyone relate their keg cleaning experiences with these two chemicals. I've heard good things about both, but don't know if price reflects quality in this case.

    Thanks.

I like the Acid #6, works good, especially on older kegs that have been stored for a while. Much more effective since its design for co2 environments.

Acid #6 is what we have used and it has worked well. 15 second, 180f burst rinse, 2min 30 sec acid 6 cycle, 15 sec burst rinse, 30 sec burst rinse, double c0-2 purge at the end.
