  • Water Quality Engineer

    Craft Brewers Alliance, Inc. has an immediate opening at the Redhook Ale Brewery in Portsmouth, NH for a Water Quality Engineer. Reporting to the Water Quality Manager, the Water Quality Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of operation and maintenance of onsite incoming water treatment systems and the anaerobic digester waste water pretreatment plant. Position is responsible for doing all in house testing, sending of all samples for off-site testing and timely reporting of all results to all concerned plant, city and state agencies.

    Specific duties include:
    • Support the Company’s mission statement and corporate values
    • Daily monitoring of incoming water from City of Portsmouth
    • Weekly microbiological sampling & reporting of Brewery water streams
    • Daily operation of anaerobic WWPT plant to best practice standards
    • Maintenance and repair of all Biothane systems which includes all pumps, heat exchangers, chillers, boilers, etc.
    • Daily testing of VFA’s, COD’s, TSS
    • Collection and shipping of all samples for off-site testing – currently all BODs, Sulfate, Sulfite, TKN, etc.
    • Coordinate with production staff to minimize system upsets due to production irregularities
    • Using automated paging system and online connectivity to monitor critical systems from off site
    • On call 24/7 for emergency backup of production in regards to the WWPT plant
    • Maintaining proper inventory of supplies and backup components
    • Attendance is required per Company policy

    Position Requirements:

    • EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) or equivalent in an Engineering discipline from two/four-year College or Technical School; or 3 to 4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in wastewater treatment systems.

    • CERTIFICATES/LICENSES, ETC.: Class III WW operator’s license preferred

    Experience:

    • Technical understanding of anaerobic WWPT systems
    • Mechanical aptitude for equipment repairs/trouble shooting
    • Excellent time management skills
    • Keeping the WWTP in a clean and organized fashion
    • Forklift certification or operational experience
