    A leader in marketing and selling specialty and imported beer in the United States, North American Breweries imports and markets Labatt Blue and Labatt Blue Light, the No. 1 & No. 2 Canadian beers in the U.S., along with Genesee, Magic Hat, Pyramid and the Dundee family of craft beers, Seagram’s Coolers and other specialty and imported brands.

    We are seeking a hard-working, bright, enthusiastic, optimistic, flexible, non-judgmental, well-rounded General Manager for our downtown Walnut Creek Pyramid Alehouse. This position reports to the Director of Retail Operations.

    DESCRIPTION
    The General Manager contributes to the Alehouse division results by providing a strong and well trained management team, achieving overall financial and operational results, and providing long term direction and input for the overall business.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Responsible for running an efficient and profitable operation that executes and elevates the company’s Alehouse concept. Part of that concept is to be viewed as “operationally excellent” by guests and employees alike.
    • Maintain standard systems and procedures that ensure the Alehouse meets operating standards, to achieve operational excellence (i.e., service standards/guest experience reports, service sequences, beer quality, etc.).
    • Attain Alehouse financial budgets.
    • Accountable for sales revenue, cost controls and business metric reporting for the Alehouse.
    • Assist in the annual business planning process for the Alehouse.
    • Maintain accounting standards and procedures, etc., and insure that all policies are followed.
    • Maintain daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting systems to effectively manage the business.
    • Act as project manager for capital expenditure projects for the Alehouse.
    • Responsible for ensuring that Alehouse staff executes appropriate in-store marketing efforts, and that their application and implementation of local marketing and sales development initiatives are consistent with the brand.
    • Ensure compliance within areas of responsibility. Make recommendations for improving effectiveness of policies and procedures.
    • Manage and supervise Alehouse Management and staff through the following activities:
    o Oversee positions with standard position descriptions, performance objectives, and performance measurements.
    o Hiring, evaluation, disciplinary action, and, if necessary, termination of team members.
    o Training and development of personnel.
    o Define team member requirements, recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, set goals and incentives for, discipline and terminate when necessary.
    o Develop and document comprehensive training materials, and implement a training plan that follows up and ensures understanding and knowledge in all product and process areas.
    o Lead time meetings communicating current objectives, production performance to plan, challenges and successes, troubleshooting, and taking corrective action when necessary.
    • Define and communicate the NAB incentive program for maximum benefit and effectiveness.
    • Resolve external complaints related to the Alehouse.
    • Actively participate in the development of a customer focused and performance driven culture by role modeling the desired behavior.
    • Openly communicate ideas and suggestions for improvements.
    • Promote the NAB brands in the consumer sector when visiting bars, restaurants and stores that sell beer.
    • Perform other related duties and assignments as required and assigned.

    SKILLS
    • Proficiency with personal computers / laptops and associated programs (Windows,Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Schedule)
    • Understanding of State Liquor Board Regulations
    • Understanding of Health Department Regulations
    • Understanding of Fire Department Regulations
    • Understanding of employment rules and regulations
    • Very strong listening and communication skills

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • High School graduate. College preferred.
    • Five years+ of high volume restaurant management experience with direct responsibility for supervising a crew of at least 12 and an emphasis on floor supervision and staffing functions.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
    • Ability to work long, unpredictable hours. Schedule often varies from day to day as you must meet and consult with other company employees or attend events.
    • Have sufficient mobility to move around the building and to interact with the community.
    • Be able to move about and between work spaces freely, including all Alehouse and office areas.
    • Ability to operate computer and other equipment in the office.
    • Ability to travel overnight via air.
    • Moderate to high noise levels
    • Exposure to outside weather during portions of shift
    • Exposure to brewery environment when entering brewery
    • Exposure to cleaning chemicals
    • Crowded physical conditions when busy
    • Climbing stairs on a regular basis
    • Stretching and reaching on a regular basis
    • Sitting for moderate periods of time
    • Occasional bending and lifting weight up to 60 lbs.
