Gottberg Brewery in Columbus, Nebraska is looking for an experienced brewer who is ready to take his/her career to the next level. Loads of opportunity for the right candidate, but the right candidate must be able to do it all. I say this, because the beer side of the brewpub/production brewery is a one-man-show. Brewer will be in charge of all brewing processes from grain to glass, ordering raw materials, keeping inventory, cleaning and repair of all tanks, pumps, etc. Must also be able to work with and deliver beer to distributors, pour at festivals and juggle every responsibility that comes down the pipe.
There is a lot of work and responsibility that goes with job, but if you are interested in being the guy that all the success/failure hinges on, this is the spot for you.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
raw materials receiving, storage, and handling
measure out raw materials according to brewery recipes
spent grain disposal
tank cleaning and sanitation
brewhouse cleaning and general cleanliness
operate brewhouse equipment for wort production
yeast pitching/management and harvesting
running fermentations
cellar transfers and filtration
filter setup, breakdown, cleaning and sanitation
tank cleaning, sanitation
cold space cleaning and general cellar cleanliness
keg filling
line cleaning
MAKE TONS OF ROOTBEER
figure and submit taxes
recipe development
run social media and email list
deal with distributors and their salespeople
You must be able to:
Able to stand for 8 hours.
Work as many hours/days per week as needed.
Able to lift 55 pounds many times a day.
Able to manipulate tri-clamp fittings.
Must have good critical thinking skills, and the ability to work unsupervised.
