Need to make YPD, there are a number of recipes out there, but the supply catalogs we have sell slightly different products

ex) I see one that contains "yeast extract" and "bacto-peptone"
but Cynmar sells only dry brewer's yeast and peptone

acceptable? if not could you point me to a good formula and where you buy from

    Cheers!

If you are just looking to do some small samples for testing purposes, I'd go to VWR or another science supplier and just get ready-made YPD powder.

If you're going through it quickly you can try some different recipes for YPD. You want some yeast extract (not just yeast, they take the cell walls out of the prep; you need this for the minerals and co-factors), peptone (any rich nitrogen source will do), and a sugar source (glucose, dextrose, sucrose, glycerol, etc...).

The standard recipe is this one:
    20g peptone
    10g yeast extract
    950ml water

    mix and autoclave

Add 50ml of sterile filtered 40% w/v glucose

Use 24g of agar per liter if you are making plates.
