Foothills Brewing of Winston-Salem, NC, is looking for a packaging manager with extensive prior experience on a rotary filler. We currently operate a 24 head FIMER monobloc (100bpm) and run 12 and 22 oz bottles. Experience at 25,000 bbls+ brewery preferred. Management experience required.
Foothills Brewing reserves the right to revise the job or to require different tasks be performed when circumstances warrant, including but not limited to emergencies, changes in personnel, workload, etc.
The Packaging Manager will be responsible for the following in addition to new initiatives:
-Consistently work on packaging shifts running machinery and managing staff and machines to make the highest quality packaged beer possible. Select, manage and train all packaging personnel.
-Thorough record-keeping & continued development of SOPs for packaging positions.
-Work with Head Brewer and QA Lab to improve package quality / shelf life.
-Maintain inventory levels of packaging material on hand to meet production goals.
-Work with Head Brewer/Filler Tech to implement & oversee preventative maintenance on packaging machinery.
-Quickly identify and communicate existing or potential issues.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
-Experience working with carbonated beverage packaging equipment.
-Experience managing employees.
-Knowledge of OSHA standards.
-Engineering/manufacturing experience.
-A knowledge of and passion for craft beer.
The qualified applicant must have the following:
GENERAL:
- Flexibility, good attitude are paramount.
- Strong communication skills plus the ability to work independently and manage a team.
- Must be neat and understand that thorough cleaning is essential in a brewery environment.
- Full availability of schedule throughout week. Nights and weekends as necessary.
- Desire to learn. Willingness to be taught / instructed, as well as being able to teach and instruct.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling / safety.
PHYSICAL:
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, crouch, and work in tight spaces.
- Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and adjust focus.
- Ability to work safely near moving mechanical parts and work in a moderate noise level.
TECHNICAL:
- Minimum 3-5 years production brewery experience.
- Technical knowledge in all applicable aspects of the brewing and all aspects of the packaging process.
- Strong mechanical background and background in sanitation is a must.
