    Position: Plant Engineer
    Summary: Reporting to the President and COO, the Plant Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of Yards’ physical plant, including all facility machinery, equipment, mechanical systems, and physical structure. The Plant Engineer collaborates with the Production and Packaging Managers to maintain, troubleshoot and repair systems and equipment to assure equipment operation and avoid or minimize down time.

    Areas of Responsibility:
    Familiar with all equipment and machinery in order to schedule maintenance and be able to provide troubleshooting and repair as needed.
    Provide technical expertise in purchasing decisions, locating and installation of new equipment according to specifications.
    Maintain all equipment according to manufacturer’s recommended schedule. Monitor performance of all machinery, troubleshooting as needed. Maintain service logs for all equipment.
    Communicate with OEM and vendor companies to verify appropriate operating and use techniques. Coordinate on-site work of compressors and chillers.
    Provide training to machine operators as needed.
    Prioritize repairs and maintenance to minimize downtime of brewery and packaging lines.
    Maintain organized tool and hardware supplies at adequate levels to ensure ability to make minor repairs in minimal time. Assure that tools are in good working condition.
    Work with Safety Officer, Brewers and Packaging Manager to evaluate and establish safety standards and provide recommendations to minimize risks to personnel.
    Provide training as needed to staff making repairs to equipment.
    Communicate any issues regarding equipment to appropriate department manager and management. Report to management any anticipated failures in order to plan capital expenditures. Assist management in planning for equipment purchases as well as planning operational layout of equipment for most effective use of space and efficiency of work.
    Provide office with list of equipment-related expenses and explanations of outlays for equipment and/or repairs.
    Provide equipment training and OTJ learning to staff. Supervise repairs.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
    Knowledge of standard mechanical systems, including pumps, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and HVAC.
    Technical training, mechanical aptitude.
    Ability to work independently on multiple, often-conflicting priorities, and be accountable to various departments.
    Ability to organize materials and information for ready reference.
    Able to be flexible with regard to schedule and on-call for repairs.
