  • Quality Control/Lab Technician at Wyeast Laboratories

    Wyeast Laboratories, Inc., a licensed food processor located in Hood River, OR, is seeking a qualified QC/Laboratory Technician for our growing company. This position works as part of a team to ensure our fermentation products are manufactured, tested and packaged according to our Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Procedures. This is a 40 hour per week position with weekend duties.

    Responsibilities:
    Daily packaging of yeast for our commercial and retail accounts.
    Yeast propagation maintenance.
    Performing, recording and interpreting daily QC testing.
    Harvesting cultures.
    Media preparation.
    Performing general lab maintenance.
    Experience with good laboratory techniques and quality control microbiology.
    Excellent understanding of basic, as well as advanced testing procedures and techniques for chemical, physical and biological analysis.

    Job Requirements:
    Food processing, commercial brewing or laboratory experience.
    Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
    Must be detail oriented, self-directed and possess good time management skills.
    Two to five years’ stable work experience demonstrating increasing responsibility.
    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    Advanced computer literacy.
    Advanced scientific education.
    Ability to lift 60 lbs. repeatedly and be able to twist, turn, reach over shoulders and stand or walk on a continual basis.
