Central City Brewers & Distillers - recognised as Canada’s Best Brewery in 2010 and 2012, is seeking an experienced full-time lab technician to join our team as we move into our new production facility in May 2013. You'll be working in a fast-paced, fun environment with people who are dedicated to making the best beer possible and growing a unique business.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum 1 year experience in a production laboratory environment
Degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry or biochemistry preferred
Flexible availability (i.e. could be night shifts, weekend shifts)
Statistical analysis an asset
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Job requirements, skills and duties include but are not limited to:
Daily sterile sampling and microbiological analysis of beers in process
Use of UV/visible spectrophotometer for VDK, IBU, color and other testing
Help with panel tastings of beers in process and sensory training of brewery staff
Maintenance of packaged beer archive
Maintaining logs (digital and otherwise) for all lab data and generation of regular reports
Work in conjunction with brewing, cellar and packaging teams to ensure consistent, high-quality product and timely release of finished beer
Maintain healthy yeast population and determine best pitching yeast and yeast pitch amounts for all brews
Maintain lab equipment and space in operational condition
Packaging analysis as needed
