  • Caustic Washing Lenticular Filters

Is it alright to caustic wash Lenticular filters?

The place where I was first introduced to lenticular filtration caustic washed them, but I've heard some people say not to.

Can it be/ should it be done?

    Reasoning?

Talk to this guy. He works for Pall and so knows the ins and outs of how they can be maintained in good condition, and has proved a valuable source of information for me (and presumably plenty of other people).

In previous discussions he has talked about caustic washing filters, but I expect it depends on what grade of filter material is being used as to what strength, volume, flow rate and temperature to use.

If you haven't got 1.5 times the nominal design flow rate of fresh clean rinse water, then I would expect problems flushing all the caustic out. This is why I suspect that some people are against it, and also why they have tried caustic washing in the first place - because the flushing is inadeqaute due to low flows.
