This position reports to the Brewing Manager and has direct responsibility for in-specification performance of all product streams at Boston Beer and complete supervision of staff. This position will supervise production operation in accordance with brewery policies and procedures. Responsibilities also include the development and maintenance of systems to assure that all brewing products manufactured by the Brewery meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership and expertise in the areas of design, implementation and support of LIMS and other Quality systems. This will involve:
•Provide critical day-to-day support to local and remote Quality systems end-users. These responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving systems issues, systems administration and reporting
•Provide technical support for laboratories - troubleshooting applications and software for internal laboratory customers
•Coordinates the efforts of users, stakeholders, IT resources and consultants to evaluate, develop, implement and maintain systems to improve processes, streamline workflows, and generally increase productivity in laboratory operations
•Assist in the design and delivery of new and/or improved systems functionality
•Responsible for technical lead role to support software validations
•Documents user requirements, design specifications, system configurations, and test plans
•Assists in writing technical SOPs and work instructions.
•Maintains and troubleshoots interfaces with analytical laboratory instrumentation
•Able to serve as subject matter expert during regulatory or customer audits
•Train QA and Brewing personnel on the use of Quality systems
•Identify opportunities and implement solutions for process improvements
•Coordinates the needs of functional departments
•Configures reports, instrument integration and custom extensions
Position Specific Education and Experience
•BS Life Science, Engineering or related degree
•Demonstrated experience with LIMS implementation and management (experience with Labware a plus)
•Demonstrated project leadership experience
•Experience supporting Quality systems
•Experience configuring Crystal Reports or similar reporting platform
•Working understanding of relational databases and SQL
•Ability to work independently and efficiently and deliver quality results within the established time frames
•Flexible team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and documentation skills
•Ability to travel (estimated at 10%)
