Northwest Canning (NWC), a mobile canning company based in Portland, is accepting applications for a full-time Production Manager. We currently serve 16 breweries in Oregon, Washington and Idaho and will be expanding with a second mobile packaging line in August. As a Production Manager, you will be expected to train on and eventually be able to run the canning line, as well as supervise additional packaging line workers. This is a management level position and brewery/canning experience is required.
We are looking for someone who is motivated and wants to become a long term member of our team. This is a salaried position, starting at $30,000 to $36,0000 depending on experience level. You will have a busy but flexible schedule. The position is open now.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and will focus on quality, efficiency and safety. As our company grows and expands you will be given higher amounts responsibility, autonomy and pay.
Required Skills/Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• 2+ years experience working in a brewery and/or beer packaging
• A working knowledge of machinery and ability to troubleshoot problems
• Ability to work in a dynamic setting with a team
• Able to give/take direction and constructive criticism
• Comfortable spending as much as 5 days on the road/away from home. Lodging is arranged and paid for. You will be given a food stipend.
• Experience driving a truck and trailer
Physical Requirements
• Comfortable standing for up to 12hrs/day
• Able to lift heavy materials (100+ lbs)
• Good general dexterity, able to climb, duck, bend, push, pull and reach etc
• Comfortable driving/being in a car for trips lasting up to 8hrs
Job Responsibilities
• Lead the set up/CIP/Testing/breakdown process
• Participate in packaging and supervise packaging line staff
• Quality control over all aspects of the packaging process
• Repair equipment malfunctions and identify potential future equipment issues
• Work with NWC staff/owners and brewery staff/owners to improve packaging quality and efficiency
• Maintain a safe work environment
