Regional Sales Manager Summary:
Beer is a relationship business. The Regional Sales Manager will further develop existing relationships with on-and off-premise accounts as well as further strengthen our relationships with our distributor network. A strong candidate will have strong people and organizational skills as well as be willing to travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
In the Market:
• Further develop relationships with accounts by providing brand support and keeping accounts up to date with new products/ occurrences at SE
• Ensure proper merchandising in on- and off-premise accounts
• Maintains consistent market visitation schedule between all assigned territories; visit target accounts and create a visitation schedule including on-and off- premise accounts
• Approximately 80% of time spent in the marketplace; visiting approximately 10 accounts a day
• Track and monitor progress in all identified accounts
• Considerable daytime travel and occasional extended travel will be expected for this position, as is the ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends
• Organize SE’s participation in events such as festivals and hosting promotions, product samplings, and beer dinners
With Distributors:
• Develops quarterly market target lists built from goals and objectives
• Monitors beer inventory to maintain proper amounts based on sales trends, promotions, and seasonal changes; monitor for product freshness
• Develop relationships with key people at the distributor.
• Perform regular distributor work-withs or staff training; promos, including staff training in retail accounts, and new product releases.
• Further develop existing relationships at distributor level to become a preferred supplier
• Develop understanding of how distributorship functions: pos orders, pulling and invoicing of samples, scheduling ride-withs, basic policies for distributor bill backs, receiving weekly sales reports, scheduling time at weekly/ montly sales meetings, and understanding how sales reps and supervisors are compensated and motivated
Skills & Experience:
• Strong knowledge of the craft brewing industry
• High motivation
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work alone
• Timely completion of administrative tasks such as daily email responses, weekly recap emails to distributors, monthly expense reports, monthly work calendar, establish monthly distribution targets, quarterly price surveys.
• Demonstrate knowledge of company, its history, and its product offerings
• Strong communication skills; maintains constant communication with Matt & Heather
• Assist in creating volume projections, marketing budgets, and ensuring compliance is maintained
• Sensory training or certification is a plus (Cicerone/ BJCP/Sommelier)
• Basic computer competence in word, excel and e-mail
• Must have a clean driving record
• Maintain professional image and demeanor at all times
