    Position Description

    Title General Manager, Turning Point Brewing Company

    Department Supply Chain
    Business Unit / Location Turning Point Brewing Company, Vancouver B.C.

    Overview
    This role will be accountable for the beer marketing, production, warehousing and distribution center activities at the Turning Point Brewing Co. (TPBC) A major focus is the development of a culture that thrives on continuous improvement, employee development, gold standard product quality, safety, customer service and sustainability. The facility will serve as a role model for our third party manufacturing/innovation and warehouse facilities, as well as future Company owned facilities. This position is accountable for all functions related to the successful operation of the brewery, and distribution centre in support of the associated business units. In addition, this position is directly responsible for Logistics in Western Canada, provides indirect support to the rest of the Country and also works with the Western Canada Specialty Beverage Copackers.

    Accountable for building a world class Brewery team of professionals by:
    • Marketing, developing, and growing premium beer brands.
    • Continuously driving cost and waste out of every aspect of forecasting, inventory and logistics.
    • Process improvement to ensure minimum cost, superior customer service, and effective use of validation tools (process audits).
    • Collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Innovation, Logistics and Human Resources to support the growth plans and go-to-market strategies of new product innovations
    • Maximize all use of resources to maintain a competitive advantage
    • Problem solving with non-traditional thinking, critical thinking, and efficient decision making to ensure that all measurable are met.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for brewing, bottling, canning, kegging, bottle washing, warehousing and logistics for Western Canada.
    • Create a leading edge, sustainable production and distribution facility that becomes the benchmark for efficiency, flexibility, sustainability and forward thinking lean manufacturing.
    • Create the capability for sustainable, cost effective manufacturing and distribution, by continuously monitoring/lowering our costs and carbon footprint, while improving Quality and Safety.
    • Create the Marketing budget, strategy and tactical plans to support beer growth
    • Champion the lowest possible inventory levels of all finished products (and components) by working closely with MA Brewing and other key stakeholders.
    • Work with the MA Brewing finance team for annual budgeting and monthly tracking/analysis of actual results; Variance analysis, developing corrective actions/cost improvements, and preparations for MBR’s/QBR’s.
    • Responsible for Capital Budgeting and ROI decisions.
    • Developing a progressive culture at TPBC.
    • Implementation and leadership of best practices as outlined in the new Employee Handbook, inclusive of GMP, Occupational Health and Safety and Hazard Plan.
    • Work with Brewing on total cost to serve decisions for all Western Markets.
    • Responsible for the Logistics team that services Western Canada for Agency wine, Agency Beer, Company Wine, Specialty Beverages (West and East) and indirect support for the rest of the Country.
    • Facilitate beer innovation team to insure new products are evaluated and commercialized (if appropriate) on time and on budget.
    • Responsible for the scale up/commercialization of brands from the Specialty Beverage innovation pipeline.
    • Responsible for overall staffing, team building, integration of the workforce, and leadership of the TPBC production/warehousing workforce to ensure we have the most proactive culture.
    • Works with Mark Anthony Brewing to provide Copacker support for Western Canada.

    Performance Measures
    Accountable for the ongoing development of KPIs within the role domain, and collaboration of cross-functional KPIs. Current measures include but are not limited to:

    • Delivery Reliability – On-Time, In-Full, Perfect Condition, Accuracy, Customer Service Effectiveness
    • Marketing – Innovation Success Measures
    • Innovation Cost Process – On-Time, Accuracy
    • Continuous Improvement – Cost Reduction Initiatives
    • Cost Management – Cost of Goods Sold vs. Budget
    • Cash Management – Inventory, Days on Hand, Inventory Value, Disposition Costs


    Position Requirements
    • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or training in Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain Management or relevant experience.
    • Minimum of 15 years of progressive supply chain/operations experience
    • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in the craft brewing CPG or beverage alcohol industry
    • Demonstrated ability to hire talented professionals and build a team that embraces change and thrives on doing more with less.
    • Proven ability to lead in a non-union environment and be successful.
    • Strong knowledge of inventory control, brands positioning, product marketing execution, operations and customs.
    • Superb written and verbal communication skills including negotiation and presentation skills.
    • Advanced organizational skills including ability to multitask and deal with competing deadlines.
    • Good interpersonal skills and understands how to build, maintain and leverage relationships.
    • Excellent computer skills including previous experience with MRP/DRP systems.
    • Proven experience leading/managing teams and developing people/organizations.
    • Strong analytical skills and proven judgment.
    • Ability to travel as required.
