Heavy Seas Beer in Baltimore, Maryland is looking for a Brewmaster / Operations Manager to join our growing team!
The Brewmaster Operations Manager will work closely with the GM and Production manager to ensure a coordinated effort in implementing strategies and realizing brewing objectives, including new brewhouse design and implementation. The person in this position will oversee the management of beer brewing, packaging, maintenance, and quality assurance within the company.
Areas of Responsibility and Oversight:
• Oversees all operations including brewing, packaging, maintenance and quality assurance
• Responsible for all team member management including hiring, development, coaching performance appraisals and if necessary, disciplinary action.
• Adapts overall company business strategy into specific goals and objectives for the brewing, packaging, maintenance and QA teams
• Works closely with department heads to properly maintain and monitor staffing, expenditures, resources etc.
• Coordinates regular brewery audits within brewing, packaging, cellaring, filtering, cleaning, etc. to ensure that procedures and protocols are being upheld.
• Oversees development safety procedures ensuring a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Collaborates in the planning and formulation of plant policies and procedure including preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Reviews financial statements pertaining to production activity reports to accurately measure productivity and goal achievement and determine areas needing improvement.
• Ensures Heavy Seas continues to brew the highest quality beers possible by working in conjunction with QA team will identify new ways for improving the quality and consistency of our beer.
Required Skills, and Abilities:
• Formal brewery training with a minimum of 5 years experience at a production brewery
• BA/BS in Business Operations, Engineering, or Management, with strong math, science, electrical and analytical background is required. MBA is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of plant management experience within a batch manufacturing environment.
• Strong computer skills including SAP software systems preferred
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA and safety standards, governmental regulatory requirements, and operations management systems.
