This is a new position; we're looking for an inquisitive, self-motivated individual to help propel our QC program to the next level.
Job Description:
- Part-time position with possibility of growth in the future, 10 - 15 hrs / wk to start
- Works directly with Head Brewer and Production Staff
- Aseptic sampling from our propagation program and all production points (heat exchanger to finished goods and barrels)
- Yeast cell counts & viability
- Dissolved Oxygen monitoring and logging
- Preparation and inoculation of various aerobic and anaerobic media
- Research with regards to new, relevant & cost-effective lab procedures
- Setup and participation in sensory panels and taster training
- Maintaining a clean, professional work area
- Completion of ALL lab paperwork and assistance in development of new logs
Requirements for successful applicant:
- College degree, or substantial progress towards degree, in Chemistry, Biology or related field, 0 – 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- A demonstrable interest in beer and/or homebrewing is very strongly preferred
- Individuals with sensory training (BJCP, Sommelier, Cicerone, etc) preferred
- Strict attention to detail and quality
- Excellent organization, computer and communication skills
- Must be able to prioritize with minimal direction
- A disciplined autodidact will excel in this position
About Manzanita:
Opened in 2010 and having moved to a new, 30bbl brewhouse facility in mid-2012; Manzanita is on track to produce 3000bbl this year with six year-round offerings and an average of one specialty release per month. This year we’ve expanded distribution throughout CA and are looking to begin out-of-state distribution in early 2014. We are a lean, dedicated organization so flexibility, commitment and personal drive are required for a successful applicant.
