The Southern Tier Brewing Company is seeking a hard working, highly motivated, quality focused, safety driven, and team oriented Shift Cellar Operator to join the brewing team in our rapidly growing, fast paced, production brewery in beautiful Lakewood, NY. We’re currently projecting to brew over 120K BBL in 2014, operating a fully automated, state of the art, 110 BBL Steinecker brew system and a 12,000 BBL fermentation cellar. We're growing like crazy with new projects and additions happening all the time!
We are an equal opportunity employer and while we respect and encourage all brewers to apply, realistically, this is absolutely not a position suited to anyone who’s only prior experience is that of an “avid home brewer”. The current opening could require working 2nd shift, 3rd shift and/or weekends in a very busy brewery cellar. This position could also entail conducting weekend brewery tours.
Shift Cellar Operator
The ideal candidate will possess:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Commercial Production Brewery or High Volume Brew Pub.
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a related technical field or a High School Diploma with two (2) years manufacturing experience in a brewery environment.
• Must have strong communication skills with good team dynamics and possess strong planning and organizational skills.
• Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Must have a solid understanding of all aspects of brewing, cellaring, yeast handling, CIP and sanitizing.
• Must have a strong mechanical background with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.
• Must have the ability to execute brewery preventative maintenance (PM) program.
• Should have prior packaging, bottling and racking experience.
• Should have a good understanding of Laboratory Operations /Quality Assurance /Quality Control, with a basic knowledge of chemistry and biology.
• Should have a strong work ethic and the ability to multitask.
• Should have self-motivation and the ability to work alone, as well as the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
• Must be flexible and willing to do whatever/whenever it takes to get the job done right. (Shift work, night shifts, weekends and overtime)
• Must be computer literate in spreadsheets and Microsoft Office. Experience with the Krones BOTEC software is definitely a plus.
• Must be of the homo sapiens species of the primate family Hominidae. Gender is not a factor.
• Must have a genuine appreciation for great beers and great barbecue.
