Job Summary:
The Controls Electrician has to build control cabinets, wire instruments to these cabinets, Program VFD as standalone units, and calibrate instruments to function in the desired manner. The position also identifies the system limits, establishes maintenance procedures including spare material management to keep the brewery running. The Electrician is responsible for the interface between the hardware and software development for the automation system and commercial systems.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
• Build control cabinets
• Install wiring to reliably communicate information between measurement control element devices and control equipment
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, test, repair, and improve sensing, measurement, and actuation devices
• Complete control wiring and Ethernet wiring as needed
• Identify system limits and establish maintenance procedures including spare material management to keep the brewery running
• Test, together with the control system engineer (Programmer), new and enhanced automation functions using given test plan in order to determine compliance with functional requirements
Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent and prior experience working as a controls electrician; electrical engineering degree preferred
• Licensed Electrician
• Familiar with control wiring and Ethernet wiring (Cat 6 and optical)
• High attention to detail, ability to produce accurate, precise and reproducible data
• Flexibility in shift schedule
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Understanding of the brewing process and packaging processes
• Ability to operate in a team environment and ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to take initiative, act promptly and be proactive
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and tools. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and rarely lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color vision.
