    Join the fantastically fun Brew Crew at Jackie O's Brewery in Athens, Ohio! We're seeking a FT Cellar Person to join our team!

    Job Overview:
    To assist in the brewing process by operating and maintaining the cellar functions. This includes cleaning tanks, transferring beer, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment throughout the brewery.

    Essential functions of the cellerman position include quality management, yeast management, equipment maintenance, and the cleanliness/sanitation of all production areas.

    The Cellar Person must be committed to maintaining consistently high standards, and have a passion for helping to create and package exceptional craft beer. Must be internally motivated and extremely detail oriented. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays. He/She should be proactive in their support of the Head of Brewing Operations, Assistant Brewer and other brewery staff and willing to take on any job that is asked of them for the successful operation of the brewery. The Cellar Person must be able to respond to a fast-paced, ever changing environment in a constructive and positive manner.

    Primary Job Responsibilities:
    ➢ CIP of Fermenters and Brite Tanks
    ➢ Fermentation Monitoring
    ➢ Transferring of Beer and Prepping for Packaging
    ➢ Quality Control/Management
    ➢ Maintaining a safe and sanitary environment throughout Brewery
    ➢ Assisting Head of Brewing Operations, Assistant Brewer & Brewery Staff with any additionally assigned duties
    ➢ Yeast Management
    ➢ Inventory of Cellar Materials
    ➢ Overall cleanliness and organization of production area
    ➢ Cellar Equipment Maintenance
    ➢ Operate cellar equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
    ➢ Monitor fermentations by checking gravity levels, identifying irregularities, recording data, dry hopping, capping and chilling tanks.
    ➢ Set, monitor and adjust temperature of the fermentation tanks to achieve optimal fermentation and conditioning of beer.
    ➢ Monitor fermentation profiles for sensory purposes. Send samples and data to the Lab Technician as needed.
    ➢ As requested, sample beer after fermentation and communicate potential issues to Brewers, management and/or Lab Technician.
    ➢ Participate in yeast selection and the harvest process, which includes scheduling, upkeep and pulling when needed.
    ➢ Establish CIP lines as requested.
    ➢ Provide Cellar support to the Brewers, including prepping tanks for transfer.
    ➢ Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
    ➢ Perform all tasks in an efficient, safe and productive manner.
    ➢ Maintain inventory as needed. Report any low levels of inventory to your supervisor when necessary. Inventory include, but are not limited to:
    • Chemicals
    • Gaskets, fittings, and spare parts
    • Tools, banding, and band clips

    ➢ Be responsible for ensuring that security procedures are adhered to throughout the building.
    ➢ Communicate regularly and efficiently with Jackie O’s Brewery staff.
    ➢ Arrive to each shift on time with a positive attitude.
    ➢ Participate in cellar shift rotation as needed to accommodate production demands.
    ➢ Perform other duties as assigned.

    Additional Job Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
    ➢ Canning & Bottling
    ➢ Brewery Tours
    ➢ Brewery Special Events
    ➢ Staff Training
    ➢ Shipping & Receiving

    Qualified Candidates MUST possess the following:
    ➢ At least 2 years of brewery experience
    ➢ Outgoing & positive personality
    ➢ “Can Do” Attitude
    ➢ Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
    ➢ Strict attention to detail
    ➢ Strong knowledge of the brewing process
    ➢ Ability to understand and follow SOPs
    ➢ Working to achieve the highest quality standards with and without direct supervision
    ➢ Ability to lift 55 lbs to shoulder height repeatedly
    ➢ Ability to maneuver beer kegs (165 lbs)
