  • how much do you sell your sample flights for?

Been open for a few weeks and am finally getting to providing sample flights. Plan is for 4 samples at about 4oz. If our pint price is around $5.50, I'm thinking the sample should be priced at about $7.00. Is that too little (labor, breakage PITA)? What are others charging for sample flights? Compared to your pint prices?

    Thanks~

Our pints are $5, as are our 4x4oz flights.

Pints are $5. 12 oz glasses are $4. Sampler (6 samples of 5 oz) is $12.

We charge a higher amount for a flight (4x5oz) because, as mentioned, there's the time, breakage, spillage, and general PITA. And mostly visiting tourists order them, and they don't really care what it costs, and you're not burning the local repeat customers.

As a side note though, I always order them when I visit other breweries. But because I know the servers hate pouring them as much as we do, I always make sure to tip well.

Our beers range from a $4-12oz for our Belgian Pale, to $5-16oz for our dark rye, APA, porter, and amber beer on nitro and a few others are $5.50-16oz.
Our IPAs are $6 and $6.5. Our Imperial Stout and Barrel Aged beers are $7-12oz and $9-12oz respectively. We do allow these in samples, but take a bit of it hit on those just on principle. We want people to order samples. Well, not all the servers do, but as the brewer/owner, I love seeing people explore our beers. We have 12-16 on draft at any given time, so groups will order several paddles. The key is making sure most guests order a pint after or we lose on an extra round on these tables.

Our samplers are FOUR "5oz" glasses (technically 5oz to the rim I believe) for $8. so 40cents per ounce or thereabouts. Pretty much priced at the middle of our per ounce price.

Thanks for the feedback. Since we sell only 16 oz pints, and the price range is only $5 (Helles) to $6 (IIPA) I think charging around $7 should cover. I think people will easily pay it. I would.

Not trying to be a wet blanket here, but I think antitrust laws require prices to be set without coordination with competitors. I doubt anyone would get in trouble for price fixing, but I'd be careful about the appearance of recommending price points.

4 x 5 oz taster glass flight for $8.00 and I hate, I mean hate flights... However, they're good money but hearing someone order one when we are at max capacity due to a new beer release makes me want to scream.

                      Which is why they're $8

Could always post the "Sorry, no flights during [insert event here]" sign.
