    Barley Forge Brewing Co. in Costa Mesa, California is hiring immediately for the position of Tasting Room Manager.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 2+ years tasting room experience in the brewing industry, preferably in a management capacity
    • 2+ years food service experience preferred
    • Proficient in basic computer skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be a team player and able to interact with all levels within the organization
    • Possess the ability to effectively teach, coach, and develop fellow teammates
    • Must value hospitality for all guests
    • Must love craft beer

    GENERAL OVERVIEW

    • Effectively manage the profitable, productive and smooth operation of Barley Forge Brewing Co.’s tasting room
    • Collaborate with management to oversee the creation of an engaging and rewarding tasting room experience for all guests

    BIG-PICTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Create and maintain an environment of hospitality and excellence in execution
    • Hire, train, and manage tasting room staff
    • Supervise LEAD training of all tasting room staff (as necessary)
    • Research and make recommendations to management on methods of improving guest relations
    • Maintain the tasting room’s operational systems, policies and procedures
    • Ensure that tasting room hosts are aware of which beers are available and are knowledgeable on all beers
    • Work closely with management to ensure that brand-wide objectives are communicated to tasting room staff
    • Provide a safe working environment for employees by maintaining the tasting room and ensuring equipment is in proper working condition
    • Create and foster productive vendor relationships with suppliers of bar goods and retail merchandise
    • Manage the weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting of all tasting room operations and create future ordering and usage projections
    • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations with regard to the selling of alcoholic beverages
    • Lead by example at all times


    DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Proactively seek out and resolve potential guest concerns or issues and use such opportunities as development and coaching tools
    • Manage tasting room inventory stock levels and ensure that beer, merchandise, non-alcoholic beverages and food items are stocked daily
    • Coordinate with line cooks / kitchen staff
    • Conduct periodic sanitation and standards audits in addition to daily facility walkthroughs
    • Maintain point of sale system and train tasting room staff in its use
    • Ensure all invoices are properly coded and forwarded to Accounting in a timely manner
    • Manage the tasting room’s daily sales reports, analyzing for errors and/or causes for concern and making recommendations as necessary
    • Deposit cash and credit card transactions on a daily basis
    • Assist in ongoing maintenance of social media: post to Instagram & Facebook, respond to Yelp reviews, respond to tasting room-related emails

    OCCASIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in creation and implementation of loyalty program(s), beer dinners, event nights, and promotions

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds repeatedly, employing traditional lifting methods
    • Ability to reach frequently with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl on concrete and in small, confined spaces
    • Ability to work in wet conditions and in an environment that is not climate controlled
    • Ability to withstand being frequently exposed to strong and sometimes disagreeable odors and handle concentrated cleaning and sanitizing chemicals
    • Ability to work and concentrate in a loud and noisy environment
    • Ability to work standing for as much as 10+ hours per day
