    Funky Buddha Brewery located in Oakland Park, Florida, is seeking a full-time Brewery Operations Manager to join its growing team. Established in 2010 at its Boca Raton brewpub, Funky Buddha is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing methods with culinary-inspired recipes utilizing all-natural, food-centric ingredients. Some of its best-known beers include flagships Hop Gun IPA and Floridian Hefeweizen, Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, No Crusts Peanut Butter and Jelly Brown Ale, and Last Snow Coffee Porter.
    Funky Buddha’s production brewery - opened in June 2013 - features a 30bbl, four-vessel brewhouse and is currently annualizing over 8,000 bbls in draught beer sales, with projections to grow to over 16,000 bbls by the end of Q1 2015. Bottled package and off-premises distribution in the Florida market will come online in November 2014. This fast growing company is the first production brewery in the greater Fort Lauderdale area and the largest brewery in South Florida, and is positioned for rapid expansion over the next few years.

    JOB DESCRIPTION
    The Brewery Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all production activities in the brewery while collaborating with the Head Brewer, General Manager, and Brand Director to ensure our product meets market demand while maintaining the highest level of quality.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Work with the Head Brewer to coordinate and prioritize all required production team activities for each shift (including brewing, cellar work, packaging, housekeeping, maintenance, scheduling, projections, and special projects)
    • Lead and manage a creative, experienced team of craft brewers
    • Receive production targets from management and create weekly production schedule to meet them
    • Work closely with Head Brewer to coordinate the operation of the brewery
    • Oversee all new equipment installation, design, and engineering
    • Present reports to management on production, quality, and efficiency
    • Be the first line of communication and response (on- and off-shift) to production questions and issues and follow up as needed with vendors and management
    • Create standard operating procedures where required and ensure that current standard operating procedures are updated with relevant process changes. Communicate those changes to the brewing team to ensure proper execution.
    • Maintain and track appropriate inventory levels of raw materials, chemicals, personal protective equipment, and other brewery supplies and equipment as needed
    • Monitor and complete projects related to production efficiency, maximization, and consistency
    • Recipe development and replication

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
    • Five years of brewing experience and two years of management experience
    • Experience setting and employing QC/QA standards
    • A thorough knowledge of the brewing and packaging processes and the ability to operate the equipment used in each aspect of the process at an expert level
    • Strong mechanical understanding of brewhouse and related equipment
    • Computer literacy and experience with office software programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)
    • Experience with automated packaging lines

    EXPERIENCE IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING IS PREFERABLE
    • ProMash software
    • Advanced Excel (or similar spreadsheet program) techniques
    • Automated bottling line
    • Centrifuge operation
    • Flash pasteurization
    • Barrel aging and/or sour programs

    OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS
    • Flexible schedule with the ability to work off hours, split, evening, and weekend shifts as required
    • Critical and analytical thinking skills and the ability to make high-level decisions based on available facts, brewing knowledge, and experience
    • Knowledge of brewing industry standards and trends
    • Excitement and passion for brewing and craft beer as well as the creativity to push boundaries and innovate
    • Highly motivated, self-starting, and able to work without supervision

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
    • Climb stairs repeatedly throughout day
    • Willing to work in wet, hot and cold conditions
    • Ability to work safely with chemicals
    • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
