    General Manager / Taproom Manager Wanted

    The Los Alamos Beer Co-operative is looking for a general manager who has the skill and passion to work to establish and grow a start-up taproom. We want a business-oriented person who will team with a brewer and enjoy the backing of hundreds of local beer lovers. We are constructing the first brewery / taproom in Los Alamos. We will also be the first craft beer co-operative in New Mexico – funded by our community membership.

    We are looking for a talented, creative and driven person to be our general manager. Since the taproom will be the place that most patrons experience LABC and our beer selection, the atmosphere and service must be pleasurable and welcoming, and it will be the GM’s responsibility to make it so.

    The GM will be the manager of subordinate bartenders and servers, a peer of the brewer, and the subordinate of the Board of Directors of LABC. The GM will assume the role of the Registered Agent of the business, and will be responsible for all aspects of taproom operation, including serving beer, and supporting bartenders and other servers in that role.

    Responsibilities:
    - Handle all aspects of taproom operation
    - Conduct safe, secure, and efficient operation and serving of customers
    - Maintain a high level of customer service, solicit customer feedback/kudos and resolve complaints
    - Manage and schedule bartenders and servers
    - Open and close the business at appropriate hours
    - Keep the taproom, restrooms, and common areas clean and sanitary
    - Troubleshoot and maintain service (other than brewery) equipment
    - Pay bills, manage bookkeeping, and handle business accounting
    - Monitor and record daily, monthly and yearly sales
    - Assist brewer in recording of federal TTB taxes
    - Record GRT and other tax records
    - Manage the profitability of the taproom – minimize loss of product and cash
    - Plan and execute events in the taproom
    - Assist the Board of Directors with marketing and advertising the brewery and taproom
    - Maintain email lists for communication with Co-op membership
    - Take on other day-to-day activities necessary to keep the taproom running
    - Note: initial work will involve transition of duties from Co-op Board Members

    Requirements, Knowledge and Abilities:
    - General management/business awareness and decision-making skills
    - Personal communication skills
    - Attention to detail
    - Familiarity with use of the web (social media such as Facebook, website
    - maintenance) and other software and technology (Quickbooks, POS systems)
    - Team-working and leadership skills
    - Experience managing employees
    - Conflict resolution/arbitration skills with employees and customers
    - Physical fitness: the ability to receive service deliveries and transport product (kegs) or ingredients (50-lb bags of grain) with a dolly
    - Ability to tap kegs, and to train others to tap kegs
    - NM Server’s license or the ability to obtain one
    - Previous bar management and customer service experience

    Ideal Candidate:
    - High school diploma or equivalent
    - Accounting, Marketing, and/or Management Degree or Certification a plus, but not required
    - 3-5 years of professional experience
    - Organized, detail-oriented and attentive to quality and standards
    - Highly motivated leader
    - Flexible, accommodating, confident, team-oriented and self-reliant
    - Excellent time management, prioritization, and task scheduling skills
    - Keeps accurate records and makes reliable projections
    - Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as required
    - Willingness to assist with tasks outside of listed responsibilities

    The most ideal candidate will be familiar with the brewing industry and will take on the role of bookkeeper.

    This is a unique chance to join a small brewery-in-construction. We will provide all the resources needed to make this brewery successful. We will be assembling the brewery in our newly renovated space in January 2015. Come help us prepare for an exciting opening in February or March 2015.
