  • glycol pressure reduction via header size

    Hi,

thanks in advance for the help.....I know this is a difficult question to answer. I have read through the forums and have not seen a direct answer.

I have purchased a used glycol unit- the pump puts out 49 PSI at 50 GPM- there is a 70 gallon res.

I will be controlling 4 jackets with this unit.

I do not want to over pressurize my jackets.

I will install a bypass etc.

is there a way I can that I can reduce the pressure by increasing the header size.....say go with a 2 inch header to reduce pressure.
Is there a calculation for this?

I would like to avoid a vfd or pump change if at all possible....but if that's what it takes-ill do either.

    thanks a ton in advance

Throw a valve to limit flow on the main send line, just post pump. I think this gives you the best control over the pressure. Would still go with the 2 inch header though.

Edit: just noticed you are trying to avoid a VFD.
