    Brewery Operations Manager - Winnipeg

    We are a brew pub-in-planning located in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. This potential candidate should be a people-focused leader with the experience to oversee all aspects of the brewery operations. The position involves consulting during the planning and build-out phase prior to our launch, which is to begin May 1 and we anticipate opening by December 1, 2015. This will be an exciting opportunity for the right person, as they will be working with ownership to acquire all brewing related equipment. This candidate will then ensure its proper installation by working with our architect, engineers, and general contractor, and assist with inspections. This planning and build-out phase will include flexible hours with full-time pay, and we will not consider a candidate that currently is employed by any other local craft brewery.

    As we launch our brew pub this role will grow into a full-time management role with Mon-Fri 9-5 hours. All management will be on-call one week per month. Flexibility from employees is vital in a brewery, and in turn we offer candidates a flexible work environment.

    The candidate will ensure reliability of all brewery and draft equipment, including brew house, cellar, packaging lines, utilities, and instrumentation. Standardization of operations will be an important early focus for this position.

    Position Responsibilities:
    • Contribute to a culture of open communication and mutual respect.
    • Assist in the hiring, training and development of packaging & production staff.
    • Assist in developing and managing a training program and safety program that is in line with company objectives and health and safety laws.
    • Collaborate on brand development, expansion planning and overall management.
    • Monitor and continuously improve production operations with regard to quality, by creating a quality assurance and control program.
    • Proudly represent our brewery at beer launches, dinners, festivals, company events, and wherever else you may be.

    Position Requirements:
    • Five years of production management experience in the brewing industry.
    • Strong skills in leadership and personnel development.
    • Experience in hiring, training and management of packaging, and production personnel.
    • Strong skills and experience in brewing, yeast propagation, cellaring, packaging, quality control, excise tax record-keeping, and project management.
    • Must not be employed by any other local craft brewery.
    • A strong passion for craft beer, and a passion to grow craft beer in Winnipeg.

    Benefits Include:
    • Salary commensurate with experience, including a goal incentive plan.
    • Benefits plan, including RRSPs, to begin after the brew pub launch.
    • 3 weeks vacation to start.
