  • Trench Drains. GPM and sizing

Trench Drains. Read about SS vs. HDPE or other materials. Read about trench drains vs. direct piping to floor sinks. Read about grates and weight load. But, what I can't find is information on properly sizing the drain for GPM of effluent or other metric. How wide should the drain be and how deep (at the shallowest end and deepest end of the trench drain) based upon the size of the brewhouse and cellar?

We have a 20bbl system with 2x 20bbl fermenters and 2x 40bbl fermenters and plan for no more than 60bbl fermenters on our sloped floors specified for this particular buildout. We have two drains in our sloped floors of 18' and 27' which tie into a 4" sub grade drainage PVC. Beyond the anecdotal "get as big a trench drain as you can afford", is there a method whereby you can estimate a proper size of the trench drain to handle the effluent?
