  • Cutting Brewer's Hose

Bought a nice new roll of brewer's hose at a pretty favorable price. Problem was I gave no thought to how the heck i was going to cut it.

There was an unfortunate (and stupid) event involving a mitre saw. Thankfully it was just a test, but that six inches of hose will never be right.

    So, my stupid question:

How the heck do you cut brewer's hose?

    Thanks!

We use a Milwaukee Porta-band, a kind of portable band-saw. A hacksaw also works well, if you're patient.

            What do you have?

For me, I cut ours with an abrasive cut-off wheel on a chop saw. I put a stainless chunk of tube inside so the hose doesn't collapse. Perfectly round, even with metal reinforcement spirals. Bands? Band-it C00169 tool from Denver. 1/2" stainless strap. Clips come in many varieties. I like the ears.

              mcmaster

I got my banding stuff from mcmaster

              tool: 5657K21
cheapest tool, but it works if you're doing a few hoses. pain in the ass otherwise because the ratchet sucks

                Bander

The P-1000 is the most popular from what I see:

You may want to look at this tool also, the P-1000 - I find them a bit more user friendly than the C00169.
