JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Maintenance Technician
FLSA Status- Full time hourly
Reports to: Director of Operations
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
This position will provide is responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient function of the brewing, packaging and warehousing operations at a modern, brewing and beverage packaging plant. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and capable of implementing systems to promote continuous process improvement, maintain preventative maintenance programs/systems, assist with design of capital improvement projects, and troubleshoot and repair a diverse range of equipment and systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Set priorities for and schedule maintenance, repair and project work, and provide oversight of contractors and equipment manufacturer’s technicians that are working on-site or in the plant. Utilize and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for processing work orders, tracking workflow, and maintaining a documented maintenance history for all plant systems
* Checks critical brewery systems daily
* Maintains boilers and air compressor systems.
* Maintains HVAC, including air conditioning, refrigeration, and glycol chiller systems
* Troubleshoots mechanical, plumbing, process, electrical, pneumatic, VFDs, PLCs, and other electronic equipment
* Maintains Bigfoot, a CMMS, for work orders and preventative maintenance
* Establishes and maintains a spare parts inventory
* Works with Head Brewer to maintain brew-house equipment
* Works with Packaging Supervisor to maintain packaging equipment
* Works with Director of Operations and General Contractor to maintain property, including rental property
* Works with management team to implement capital improvements and upgrades
* Ensures the efficient and safe operation of all equipment
* Maintains a safe work environment in accordance with regulations and Highland standards
* Maintains a clean and orderly workshop and work station
* Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
* High school diploma
* Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, engineering or other industrial science field preferred
Experience:
* Minimum of five years of relevant technical experience
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Strong mechanical, electrical, welding, fabrication, plumbing, and troubleshooting skills
* Knowledge of steam principles, HVAC, boiler, automotive, and brewery process
* Experience with maintaining a KHS bottle filler, can line, and an M and F keg filler
* Thorough understanding of safety regulations and proper safety procedures, including lock out/tag out and other required safety protocols
* Self-motivated with ability to work independently with limited direction and within a team environment
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Computer proficiency
Working Conditions:
This position requires working both inside and outside, year round, in all weather conditions, as required to keep the plant and its systems operational.
This position requires the performance of strenuous physical activities, such as lifting, bending, climbing (stairs/ladders), and pushing/pulling/lifting and manipulating heavy objects and loads.
This position requires working at times other than regular business hours, both as scheduled and without prior notice, as well as being scheduled on-call, i.e. employees must be able to respond to the plant within thirty (30) minutes of receiving a service request while scheduled for on-call coverage.
* Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required.
* Willingness to work on and around potentially dangerous equipment/machinery is required
* Willingness to work in an environment with high noise levels is required
* Willingness to work evenings and weekends and respond to emergencies
