Hi,

We have a request to run Kombucha through our canning line, which normally runs beer.
Has any one run Kombucha in their machines, and are there any special sanitizing / cleaning that needs to be dome after use?

Thanks

This is most likely a mistake due to the microbiology of that liquid and the surfaces that can be cross contaminated in the machine such as vinyl tubing and o-rings etc. Its a breaking of what would be a hard and fast brewery tenet or boundary that is not supposed to be crossed.
This is a common sense conclusion based on other things that are avoided in the brewery.
That brew may need a dedicated machine.

Did you end up running a Kombucha through your line? Any carry-over flavor afterwards?

HI,

After a lot of research we decided not to run Kombucha through our machine. As 90% of our work is beer, it was not worth risking the business.

Hope this helps.
