    POSITION SUMMARY

    Our craft brewery in NW Portland, Oregon is hiring a Maintenance Team Member who can work Monday through Friday and should have open availability during those days. The Maintenance Mechanic maintains all plant processes and packaging equipment in optimal working order. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, responsible for performing a variety of tasks to install, set up, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment. Participate in installation, upgrade and maintenance of facility all according to safety and maintenance standards and processed to accomplish Pyramid, Portland Brewing and North American Breweries' goals and objectives.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Perform daily check of vital brewery systems and record findings.
    • Perform scheduled and emergency repairs on plant utilities and equipment.
    • Troubleshoot all mechanical, electrical pneumatic and electronic systems using test instruments when necessary.
    • Assist production until daily schedule is complete.
    • Work as a team with the operators.
    • Perform preventative maintenance from electronic CMMS
    • Install new equipment.
    • Answer questions regarding operation of systems and equipment of entire facility.
    • Assist with and prepares machinery set up for scheduled production runs.
    • Make necessary corrections and perform adjustments to maintain maximum production and maintain high quality standards.
    • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production. Diagnose and prioritize problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust as required to return machinery to service.
    • Perform prioritized and scheduled maintenance repairs.
    • Understand production systems and machinery thoroughly, diagnose sources of failure and downtime, identify and correct to avoid unnecessary or repeated downtime. Anticipate wear and/or downtime through routine observations and operator feedback.
    • Understand basic facilities and infrastructure (chillers, boilers, plumbing, electrical) requirements and operating conditions, perform preventative maintenance as scheduled, repair unscheduled infrastructure as needed to return systems to service and minimize downtime.
    • Experience with refrigeration and boiler maintenance.
    • Shutting down equipment due to safety issues.

    • Complete various projects as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
    • Take the initiative to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot infrastructure.
    • Assist coworkers in performing their duties with direction and assistance.
    • Treat coworkers with respect, listen carefully and take time to understand priorities. Ask questions and be clear on the follow up that you do in your job.
    • Attend team meetings and participate constructively.
    • Participate in developing, measuring, meeting or beating standards or timetables with each task you perform.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • High mechanical aptitude. Skills including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, plumbing and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.

    • Participate and assist brewery team members to meet operating objectives incorporating continuous improvements in all processes.
    • Contribute information and creative problem solving to all issues.
    • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas returning equipment, tools and supplies to appropriate staging areas.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
    • Troubleshooting skills.
    • Controls experience.
    • Computer experience: Excel, Word and Outlook

    LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Forklift certification
    • EPA Refrigeration Technician Certification
    • LME or Electrical License

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
    • Minimum three years mechanic experience; three to five years plant maintenance preferred.
    • Electrical Certification
    • Minimum: Technical classes related to the job
    • Preferred: High School diploma
    • EPA Refrigeration Technician Certification
    • Valid Drivers License

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Able to lift heavy materials (minimum 100 lb.).
    • Able to climb ladders. Ladder climbing over 20 feet. Able to perform job while standing on a ladder.
    • Occasional work on tanks over 23 feet high.
    • Able to work in wet, tight or cramped spaces.
    • Work in a variety of weather conditions.
    • Ability to work on/around potentially dangerous equipment/machinery with moving mechanical parts.
    • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
    • Ability to operate various power tools.
    • Able to work in an environment with high noise levels.
    • Able to work with hazardous chemicals.
    • Able to frequently duck under conveyors/equipment.
    • Able to climb stairs.
    • Able to work in awkward positions for extended periods of time.
    • Able to frequently grasp with one or both hands.
    • Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (respirators, ear plugs, boots, etc).
