  • Walk-in Pricing

    Hello all,

Can anyone provide an average PP/SQFT of a walk-in cooler?

I am looking at roughly 250 sqft (housing kegs, brite, etc. - all in house, no dist.)

Just looking for a rough price guestimate on this.

    Thanks!

    Ryan

Just go on eBay and see what's listed as new equipment in the SF range you desire.

Honestly this can be all over the map. A lot depends on how you want it installed. If you want the condensing unit outside the building versus on top of the cooler and in the building you will have more install costs. Also it depends on what kind of panels you want as well as type and size of door. They make basically two types. Steel 4" or 6" thick insulated panels and then there are the super light weight aluminum 4" panels that hook together with quarter turns. the first being the high end and the latter being the low end. The steel panels are very sturdy and structural, you can put a ton of weight on top of coolers made from these and they typically are for custom size/shape installs. Then of course there is the secondary market. for example I recently installed a 10x10x16 in our cidery that I paid $1500 for and another approx. 2K to have installed. That is the least amount I have ever paid for a cooler and we have 4. I would recommend getting several quotes and depending on how comfortable you are with these things maybe look into the used market, you could potentially save a lot of money. Sorry to not have more specific info but its like asking what the cost of a 20 BBL brewhouse is, lots of variables.

We recently added a 10x25 cold box with sliding pallet door and new 3hp compressor/air handler. Was about $8k installed. Prices vary widely. Do suggest finding used modular panels in good shape, can self-install the walls you and some friends are handy.

Check with Barr Refrigeration in Wisconsin. They sell lots of used walk ins.
We used them and were happy with the walk in and the price
