    Petoskey Brewing is looking for a highly-skilled, customer-first restaurant General Manager with a proven track record in fast-paced environments. The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the brewery tap room and restaurant. Our tap room seats 90 and serves our beer along with a full menu including burgers, grilled sandwiches and the like.

    Petoskey Brewing is a fast-growing micro-brewery that began producing beer in September of 2012. We are projecting 2016 production in excess of 6000 barrels. Our long-term goal is to remain a highly regarded, nimble, regional player with a focus on quality, hand-crafted brews and strong financials. We serve beer out of our brewery Tap Room and distribute to 500+ on-premise accounts throughout Michigan. Additionally, we own a Cask automated canning line and currently offer five styles in the marketplace in the 16 oz. format.

    Located on the shore of Lake Michigan, Petoskey is a year-round outdoorsman's and sportsman's paradise. The Petoskey/Harbor Springs area became a popular summer resort destination in the late 1800's and continues to draw vacationers of all ages today. The area boasts the best sailing, fishing, golfing and cycling in the mid-west during summer months and incredible skiing, hunting and snow-sports in the winter.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    High school diploma or equivalent. College Degree in hospitality preferable.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills; is capable of communicating effectively with customers and co-workers.

    Minimum 2 years in General Management position (preferably in fast-paced, high volume setting).

    Must maintain an open-door policy and a reliable method of communicating with all employees, being accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    Must be able to work a minimum of 45 hours per week; able to work flexible hours as necessary to manage and operate the restaurant effectively.

    PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY:
    The General Manager (GM) is responsible and accountable for all Tap Room activities, and assumes complete responsibility for the restaurant as necessary. The GM works to ensure that all activities are consistent with and supportive of the restaurant's business plan. The GM ensures all employees are performing their job responsibilities and meeting expectations in all areas of their job descriptions. The GM owns the customer experience.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Meets restaurant financial objectives by developing preparing strategic and annual forecasts and budgets; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions; establishing and monitoring financial controls; developing and implementing strategies to increase average meal checks.

    Attracts patrons by developing and implementing marketing, advertising, public and community relations programs; evaluating program results; identifying and tracking changing demands.

    Controls purchases and inventory by meeting with account managers; negotiating prices and contracts; developing preferred supplier lists; reviewing and evaluating usage reports; analyzing variances; taking corrective actions.

    Maintains operations by preparing policies and standard operating procedures; implementing production, productivity, quality, and patron-service standards; determining and implementing system improvements.

    Owns and ensures customer satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings; initiating improvements; building relationships with preferred patrons; encouraging a consistent positive customer environment.

    Accomplishes Tap Room human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining management staff; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.

    Maintains safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations; maintaining security systems.

    This is a salaried position with health care benefits. Salary will be commensurate with experience and will include a profitability bonus.
