    JOB TITLE: Packaging Personnel Manager
    LOCATION: Comstock Brewery
    REPORTS TO: Packaging Manager
    FLSA POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Salaried Exempt
    POSTING DATES: 02/27/2017-03/19/2017

    POSITION SUMMARY: As a key member of the Packaging leadership team, the Packaging Personnel Manager will lead all aspects of the day-to-day operation at Bell’s Packaging department in Comstock, MI. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe work environment, interviewing and hiring new Packaging Operators and Line Leads, working closely with HR, facilitating communication, upholding Bell’s quality standards, optimizing current processes and helping prepare for future growth.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    •Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery, Inc., and is accountable for the safety of their crew. Will lead by example in order to be a Safety role model for the Department.
    •Leads all day-to-day activities necessary to package Bell’s high quality beer.
    •Promotes an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork within the department and the company.
    •Advocates a continuous improvement culture throughout his/her team.
    •Actively engages Packaging Operator and Line lead staff members towards developing their professional goals.
    •Conducts annual performance reviews with all direct reports.
    •Coordinates with HR for interviewing and hiring of all new Packaging Operators and Line Leads.
    •Coordinates with HR to effect disciplinary measures when necessary.
    •Leads meetings of Packaging Leads to ensure effective communication across all shifts.
    •Effectively represent Packaging in weekly cross department meetings regarding Safety, HR, Quality and Packaging, as needed.
    •Assists in development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as necessary.
    •Holds self and packagers accountable for adhering to SOPs and maintaining a sanitary and micro-biologically stable work environment.
    •Ensures completion of Packaging’s Preventative Maintenance tasks.
    •Ensures Microsoft AX Packaging Production Data Entry and Accuracy within Packaging Department with Line Leads.
    •Facilitates future growth of the brewery through continuous optimization of current processes.
    •Assists in implementation of new equipment and processes.
    •Works with senior management on new product development initiatives.
    •Conducts critical assessment of Bell’s beers through active participation in beer sensory panels.
    •Flexible schedule. 24-hour, 7-day on-call status, required.
    •Shift coverage as necessary.

    Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
    •Must possess a valid driver’s license
    •Access to a personal vehicle.

    •Automated packaging equipment
    •Forklift trucks
    •A variety of hand and power tools
    •Cleaning agents and other hazardous chemicals
    •Desktop computer ( Word, Excel and Outlook)
    •Company Phone
    •Hand Held Bar Code Scanner
    •Touch screen machine controls
    •Compressed air or other gasses, including C02
    •Company Vehicle

    IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    •Exceptional leadership skills.
    •Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable addressing diverse groups
    •Strong computer skills necessary to quickly learn Bells’ software systems.
    •An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards who will positively represent Bell’s Brewery both internally and externally.
    •A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
    •Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple processes at one time.
    •Self-motivated with good time management skills.
    •Ability to coordinate with other departments according to schedule.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
    •At least 5 years of packaging experience, preferably at a regional sized brewery.
    •Previous leadership or management experience.
    •Outstanding communication and problem solving skills.

    •Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
    •Must be able to participate in critical assessment of beers.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
    •Work is primarily performed in an office environment with frequent trips to operational areas required.
    •The work environment is that of a brewing and packaging facility
    •The employee frequently must work in a sanitary environment.
    •The noise level in the packaging facilities is frequently loud (90+ dB)
    •The employee regularly works around high voltage, hot water, steam and flame
    •The employee regularly works with pressurized vessels
    •The employee comes in contact with and has to handle broken glass.
    •The employee handles hazardous materials.
    •The employee works near moving mechanical parts.
    •The employee works on wet floors and with wet equipment.
