Väsen Brewing Company is seeking a brewer to join our team as we launch our brewery this summer in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia, one of the most exciting and rapidly changing neighborhoods in Richmond, as well as a craft beverage destination with several breweries, cideries, a meadery, and a distillery.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, curious, communicative brewer with a strong desire to experiment and the dedication to make consistently excellent beer. This position reports directly to the Head Brewer. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of brewery operation from brewing to packaging.
We are a small and close-knit team of beer lovers getting ready to live our dream in the best city in the South. We are closely focused on building positive relationships with the RVA community and ensuring that our environmental footprint is as small as possible. As an American experimental brewery, we focus on applying the best practices from brewers around the world to make the best beer possible. We love the beers of Belgium and Germany, and many of our brews are recognizable styles from those brewing traditions. However, we are a true experimental brewery that will also craft sours, Brett farmhouse beers, and wild beers using locally collected yeast/bacteria and spontaneous fermentation.
Our 17,000+ sq. ft. facility is under intensive construction and will feature a 3000 sq. ft. dedicated taproom with space for live music and events, a large patio, a 1500 sq. ft. barrel room for barrel-aged beers, and 2 80-bbl oak foeders for Brett farmhouse beers.
We intend to hit the ground running with our 20-bbl 4-vessel system early this summer, with an opening date in July/August. With our opening coming up soon, we are hiring a brewer to assist our head brewer and allow us to begin production as soon as our facility is ready.

Physical requirements:
- Ability to lift 55+ lbs repeatedly
- Ability to crouch, kneel, stoop, etc. repeatedly
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in noisy environment
- Ability to work in a hot or cold environment for a typical work day

- Barrel/mixed fermentation/foeder experience
- Bottling/canning line experience
- Laboratory experience
- Mechanical aptitude
