  • Wall coatings/paint/coverings for the brewing area

What are other folks using to coat the walls in their brewing areas? We're starting with bare drywall and want at least 8 feet of waterproof coating on the walls.

    Trust me on this one......

Paint your walls with Kilz primer. Then cover with 4'x8' pieces of FRP (fiberglass reinforced panels). Finish with plastic cove base at the bottom of the wall. Caulk everything!!!

    Prost!

p.s. yea, expensive but well worth it. Especially with drywall. Moisture will eat through that in two seasons.

Sherwin Williams makes an epoxy paint (available in 2-part or pre-catalyzed) that is USDA approved for food-processing facilities--sure to give inspectors a hard-on--and it met with the approval of Oregon Dept. of Ag (though be warned that there is no consistency agent to agent or project to project). It's washdown rated. If you're worried about your drywall getting wet, use the green board.

white pvc panels- glue on to drywall. If the drywall is not up yet you can get "FRP" = drywall with the plastic panel on it already. Just caulk seams and screw holes and apply seam/hole covers you get with it. Talk to your local lumberyards- someone will know.
