beeston stout malt info needed

purchased all stock of beeston malt,i know its 2 lava-bond and thats it .wonder how well would it work in an ale.?

Far as I know, Beeston's was only used in ales. I'm sure it will be great! Good luck.

I'm confused - there was a UK maltsters (Nottingham) called Beeston, but they closed down a good few years ago (c.2000?)

I'm guessing you're talking about something else!?

& is this stuff really 8 year old malted grain, as it sounds? Or malt extract, or what?

If it is grain, won't it be totally stale?

I think you will find that Bairds are still packaging some malts under the Beeston brand. I do recall a West Coast (US) importer advertising the Beeston brand well after the Beeston Maltings was closed down.

As for the "Stout malt" - I would not use that for anything other than a traditional dry stout. It will be VERY light in colour and flavour - the 2 things a dry stout does not need in a base malt - and will have quite a high diastatic power (for a UK malt)
