  • Calibrating Pressure Gauges

had a little problem with over carbonating a beer in my fermenter.
hooked up the my pressure gauges to my "trusted" regulator and found that most of them are +/- 2 psi off.

are the 2 screws on the back of the gauges for calibrating?
if so how do you do about doing this?
(2 are liquid filled, 1 is not)

    thanks

No, the screws merely hold the cover to the "workings" of the gauge. There is no calibrating 99% of pressure gauges. They're either right, or in the garbage. Buy good ones. Wish you luck!

You may want to just write on the gauge housing how far off the gauge is, then you can make sure to always know how much you should adjust based on which regulator you're using. That's the cheapest option.

Check with your gas supplier. Most have a sales person that is knowledgeable with several brands of gauges. We had a similar problem at a previous brewery I was at, the guy from the gas supplier turned out to be very helpful.
