    Grain Density

Does anyone have a number that they consider typical for milled malt density. For the purpose of engineering our grain handling system, I've been working with 27 lbs/cu ft. for whole grain but I don't have anything for milled grain that I feel sure of.

    Thanks,

When planning our grain system I used 34# per cf for whole malt, and 27# per cf for grist. Your malt supplier (might already be on the analysis sheet) should be able to give you the actual # for the whole kernel.

A second on Beersmiths #'s, exactly what I used for engineering my slab and footings. Still working on my conveyence system though
