New York Tax Increase
Increase of three cents per gallon on beer goes into place this week
As of today, manufacturers will be faced with a three cent per gallon increase on beer, and an 11 cent increase per gallon on wine.
According to Fred Matt, the Vice President of F.X. Matt Brewery, that means the consumer will be paying about seven cents more for a case of beer. According to State Senator Joe Griffo the 2009-2010 state excise tax is projected to cost consumers around $14 million in 2009-2010.
