What I do is pour a small amount of malt into the mill, then have an assistant hold an open, empty malt bag under the opening in the mash tun to collect the sample, hot mash water off of course.
I'm looking for the best way to obtain crush samples from my two roll mill. Is a traditional trier transverse to the rolls the best method?

Hey Tim! Thanks for the reply. Problem with that method is that it doesn't represent the mill at full load. It is possible that the rolls separate under full load and change the grist profile.
