Just wanted to know if someone would share their Granulated Activated Charcoal technical specifications with me. What are your critical characteristics and size range? Thanks!

I have been doing a bit of research on it lately b/c we need to replace ours. Many I have looked at did not have a high enough GPM, but this sight was pretty helpful. http://www.excelwater.com/eng/b2c/sh...77213a9edad2e3
I thought about refilling the old unit but the price difference was not worth it. Our valve is leaking a bit and you have to replace the tube insade as well.

Other recommendations are always helpful.

Thanks Joel. I'm looking for loose, bulk granulated activated charcoal to fill a swimming pool-style filter housing. These filters are built to normally hold sand, but work really well with a fairly coarse charcoal load. So, I think I'm going with an acid-washed 12 x 30 mesh coconut shell product. The last time I used something like this, I got half a million gallons of water from 50 pounds at a nominal chlorine loading of 1ppm. The charcoal still hasn't given up, but at three years later, I think I'll change it anyway! Just want to see whether someone else knows better.

Activated carbon is not cheap. I am looking at $100 per cubic foot and I need nine feet.
