Hello, I have a stainless rake, commonly found in dairies( I think they use them for separating curds), it isn't that heavy and is easy to keep clean. I tried to use the paddle at first when we upgraded to our 10 Bbl. JVNW brewhouse, but found the canoe paddle just didn't cut it for thorough mixing. Paddle works well for cutting the bed during lauter. Extracts were much better and consistent with the mixing rake. I would recommend a paddle with holes in it. I have heard of people buying wooden ones, and cutting ther own holes. There used to be a company that sold these with a warranty, check any New Brewer back issue(s). Cheers!
