Central City Brewing Company is a small (7500 hL) packaging craft brewery, recently recognised as the Best Brewery in Canada. Poised to undergo a major expansion this year (100,000 hL projected capacity), now is the time to join this quality focused, award winning team.
We are seeking a hands on QC technician with an interest in growing their new role to that of Lab Manager at the greenfield expansion. As such, essential personal qualities include: excellent time management and ability to multi-task; developed EQ and soft skills; high level verbal and written communication (English); continuous process improvement mentality; and a palate for high quality beer.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, and interacting closely with the Brewmaster/Brewers, cellarmen, and QA/RA Manager, you will be an integral part of maintaining and developing our Quality systems.
Typical duties include:
-microbiological analysis wort, beer and raw materials
-chemical/physical analyses: pH, FAN, TBZ, VDK, [acetaldehyde], [ethanol], DO, TPO, turbidity, TA, colour, gravities, etc
-lab scale yeast propagation
-implementation of formal sensory analysis
-LIMS design/implementation
Successful applicants will have:
-relevant qualfications i.e. Bachelors degree in Chemistry/Microbiology or related, or recognised brewing related education (IBD, UCD/Siebel programs etc), or several years work experience in a brewery QC setting
-familiarity with some/all of the “typical duties” listed above
-valid work rights for Canadian employment
-a genuine passion for quality beer, and beer quality
