  • What to do in Denver

I will be attending the GABF again this year and am looking for some different things to do, or places to go this year. Anyone familiar with Denver have any suggestions other than the usual suspects, ie. Coors Field, Falling Rock, Wynkoop, Rock bottom etc.
Any out of the way brewpubs worth seeking out or great restaraunts to try? Any leads appreciated. Thanks hope to see you there!

          Bucksnort Saloon!

One of my favorite places in Colorado:

          Bucksnort Saloon
          15921 Elk Creek Road
          (east of Pine)
          Sphinx Park, CO 80470
          (303) 838-0284

It can be found via Mapquest...

It's up in the mountains, probably 45 minutes from downtown Denver. After taking US 285 up into the mountains, you turn left on S. Elk Creek Road. From there, the road gets progressively more primitive, until you're driving on gravel along a twisty, narrow canyon alongside a creek. You come around a corner, and there it is! Good music, good food, good beer (when I was last there three years ago, they had a house beer brewed by Wyncoops), and an amazing location. Get back out by continuing along the same road to the village of Pine, and turn right on Colorado 126 back to US 285.

Cheers, Tim (former Colorado brewer who really misses it!)

            Skylark Lounge

Another favorite place is the Skylark Lounge at 140 S. Broadway. Great honkytonk/roadhouse atmosphere, often excellent live music, great jukebox, friendly bartenders...

            Enjoy!
