AOHGA Organic Hop Market Report & Brewer Survey

The American Organic Hop Grower Association has compiled its first-ever Organic Hop Market Report and Brewer Survey. The report and survey are available for download from the homepage of our website (www.usorganichops.com).

The Organic Hop Market Report gives an overview of the current state of the organic hop market, with current inventory and acreage data for AOHGA growers. The Brewer Survey gives brewers an opportunity to provide information, directly to the suppliers, on which varieties are in demand and what quantities are necessary, and gives growers a comprehensive understanding of the demand of organic hops. We also hope it will facilitate discussions between brewer and grower going into the 2011 planting season.

We encourage all brewers planning to use organic hops in the upcoming years to please review the survey and return by the deadline of Monday, January 31.

    Thank you!

The AOHGA Organic Hop Market Report and Brewer Survey that we distributed in January were a big success! We received great feedback on the report, and we are very happy with the level of participation that we received in the survey. Thank you to all who participated!

From the survey, we have learned that many of the hop varieties in demand by organic breweries are already being produced organically. For those that are not, communication between growers and brewers needs to begin in order to get the desired varieties planted this spring. For a list of organic hop growers and their contact information, please visit http://usorganichops.com/AOHGA/growers.html.

Again, thank you to all of the breweries who participated in our survey!

The growing season is upon us!

The AOHGA growers are glad spring is here, which means a lot of their time is now spent in the fields planting new varieties of hops for this summer’s annual harvest. Now is the time to contact the organic growers listed on our website to ensure the hop varieties you use are being planted this spring. The 2011 planting season is critical to ensuring a sufficient supply of organic hops on January 1, 2013, so don’t hesitate to contact organic hop growers now!

Visit www.usorganichops.com for contact information for our organic hop grower members.
