    Odd style keg spear removal

    Most of my kegs are Sankey with a small ring that I pop out to remove the spear, but I have a few old kegs that do not have a retaining ring. I can twist the Sankey part and turn the unit on threads, but there seems to be something holding the unit in the keg. It unwinds about an inch out of the keg and wiggles, but I cannot lift the spear out. Any ideas on getting the spear out?

    use a nickel

    put a nickel on the ball in the spear then tap with a coupler. should pull right out
